Reading the Horoscope
Sally is a women in her mid-twenties. Her arms were covered
with scars of countless self-inflicted wounds. She mentioned that she has no desire to cut
herself, "but I often return to consciousness from a trance to find my arms covered
in blood." The following is her story:
One day Sally decided to read her newspaper horoscope from out of curiosity. That day's
prediction seemed to have come true, so from that point on, she read her horoscope every
day. Eventually, a demon of divination entered her, followed later by a demon of
hatred.
Question from exorcist (Q): Millions of people read their horoscopes every day and never
become demon-possessed
Answer from possessed (A): "You're right", the spirit agreed, "but she
disobeyed what the Bible says about astrology, and that's all we needed !"
Q: But she wasn't a Christian. She didn't even know that the Bible condemns astrology.
A: That doesn't matter ! What she did let us in. We only need a sin the size of the head
of a pin to enter.
A: Give us any excuse, and we'll come in. [5]
Commentary:
Occult experiences (horoscope, PSI, tarot cards, psychic readings...) have become big
business in today's western society. The reason why people are drawn to them is because in
many cases, they do have a short term benefit to the people who us them (in Sally's case,
her horoscope predictions came true). The reason why these things work is because those
people are summoning demons to aid them in the occult process. In Sally's case, the spirit
of divination could have made her life fit with the days horoscope predictions. Demons
have the power to do this once you open up your soul to them.
Notice that through reading the horoscope, a demon of divination entered Sally, but it was
the demon of hatred that caused her to hurt herself. It is very common for victims of
possession to be possessed by more than one demon. In the Bible, there was a person who
was possessed by a legion of demons (Mark 5: 9-15).
The fact that the demon only needed a sin "the size of the head of a pin" to
enter into Sally should not make us fearful, but instead serve as a warning against
dabbling into the occult. It should also make us cling closely to Christ and His authority
over them.
